Our story is one of discovery and hope - a light in the darkness of the newborn haze. In June 2024 Louise was navigating the early weeks of motherhood with her first born son. All without the love, attention and nurturing tenderness of her own mum. She dropped a message on a closed Facebook group, seeking support from other mothers in a similar situation. Adina responded and they instantly connected, both agreeing there needed to be more accessible support, connection and representation for motherless mothers. Anne and Emma, also mothers without their own mums, soon joined the conversation and here marked the start of The Motherless Mothers .
We are a group of motherless mothers who found each other in the shared silence of our journeys.
We established this community to offer the understanding, connection, and direction we couldn't find elsewhere.
Our mission is to provide the resources, community and advocacy that every motherless mother deserves.
Our mission is to provide the resources, community and advocacy that every motherless mother deserves.
We understand the path of Motherhood doesn’t always run smooth and can sometimes feel like an unfamiliar and ever-changing landscape into which we pour every part of ourselves. Making constant demands on our strength, perseverance and resilience, it is steered by our fullest capacity to love. Without the love, care and support of those around us we can end up feeling drained, emptied, disheartened and alone - yet reaching out for help when we most need it can sometimes feel impossible.
“Your absence has gone through me like thread through a needle. Everything I do is stitched with its colour."
